Our Story

Co-founder Judges Johnson had an appointment with her husband to finalize their citizenship back in July 2005. After checking in, she attempted to take a quick bathroom break when a gentleman informed her that the man, she was with was having a medical emergency. Her and her then 17-year-old son (who was a certified lifeguard) performed CPR until medial assistance arrived. Because of the high-performance CPR they performed, Mr. Johnson lived an additional 11 years!

Growing up, following her mother’s footsteps and watching her father suffer from a heart condition majority of her life made Ikeeta interested in healthcare. After about 6 years of working in the float pool at Duke and Wake med Hospital, she decided to go full time at Moses Cone Hospital on the cardiac unit. Taking full advantage of the opportunity, she learned all she could know about the heart, conditions, life saving tips and even had to perform CPR a handful of times.

They knew first-hand as an emergency responder and from life experiences, the impact high-quality CPR and early defibrillation could make in a cardiac arrest and became passionate about providing quality training to others. Cherished CPR is a family-owned business born out of a living room in 2019 of the Johnsons.
